The riding season is winding down, and it’s almost time to put the bikes to sleep for the winter.
I often wondered what it be like to live in a area were you had no winter, and you could ride all year round, like in Arizona, or New Mexico. But then I was thinking, the summer would be in the 100’s and sitting over a hot engine when it that hot out would not be fun. You couldn’t go for a fall foliage ride and cruise through the mountains taking in the wonderful colors that Mother Nature displays. And it wouldn’t feel like holidays if there wasn’t a chill in the air or snow on the ground. |

It started as a very dreary day but we put our rain gear on and headed for the Coop Diner to meet everyone for breakfast. We were the only ones there on a bike besides George Ramsey. After breakfast we headed to Scott Powersports and it looked like it was breaking up. And then it opened up and started to pour.
We stayed at registration until 9:00 and then headed over to the Main Gate with George to set up. When we arrived, the rain started to let up so we were hopeful. The tables and chairs were already set up for me inside. Lu started getting ready for the bikes, cars and trucks. There were around 15 Bikes, 10 Classic Cars and some very impressive Antique Trucks from a 1948 REO Speedwagon to some Old 18 Wheeler Cabs. |

On Sunday August 30th, 5 Riff Raff Riders went to the Chapter B Picnic. Lu, Jack M. and I left from our house around 11:00 to head over. We met Jeff and Lois at the Picnic. It was a beautiful day. There was a lot of good food and yummies. There was a Bean Bag toss and Lois almost won. We will have to practice for next time. After lunch we all cleaned up and went on a “follow the leader” ride. If you have never done this before it was fun. Basically someone leads for awhile and then moves aside and the next person leads.
